The Vibæk Mølle Foundation was established in 1987 to protect, preserve, and renovate the buildings belonging to the Vibæk mills. That same year, the foundation purchased the mills from Nikolaj and Peter Dall Madsen, sons of the last miller on the site: Christian Madsen. Nikolaj and Peter retained the right to live in the farmhouse. This right passed solely to Nikolaj on the death of his brother Peter in 1991. Nikolaj had the right to live in his childhood home until 2024, when he died at the age of 96.
The purpose of the fund is:
- to preserve and renovate the existing, listed buildings on the property
– to re-establish the entire mill complex in its original form and scope
– to open the entire mill complex to the public, thereby strengthening interest and understanding of the mill cause and our common cultural heritage
– to seek protection for all buildings on the property
– Once completed, the entire mill complex will be a source of joy and benefit for both the local population and visiting tourists.
